Just a quiet shift

Spock continued monitoring his sensors, keeping only the lightest awareness of Chekov in the command seat. The junior officers often cycled their command hours during Spock's shift, at his invitation. It freed him to take advantage of the extra hours studying data, while also reassuring the captain.

After all, Kirk frequently stayed on shift or came early, never perfectly happy to relinquish the conn of his ship. In another human, that would be a worrying sign. Spock, however, understood the difference between needing to have control versus wishing to protect the crew always.

He would watch, if the distinction degraded.

- when I went to borrow the ancient rattly hand-cart from my father, he told me I could just store it in my garage from now on, which is basically saying it's mine.
- for the first time ever, evening load-in was not delayed by having to wait for the Ghostbusters car getting itself situated.
- more than made table back before load-in had finished.
- arrived a tiny smidge early day-of and had to wait for the Ghostbusters car to get itself situated. (I feel like this set the Universe back on track or something?)

At some point in the coming week I'll get a post up to give away a bunch of stuff I don't want to store/keep hauling around. Now to try to catch up on everything else...

Hello! I hope things are going well for you!! I can’t believe that the end of the year is closing in… I got to start thinking about my resolutions for next year…!

This also means that I’ve started to use a new planner! My last one had an August (2024) start and goes until the end of this year, which means I’m finally able to move away from ones that end during the summer! Yay!

On a completely unrelated note, I’ve been listening to Yggdrasil Radio again lately and bumping into a lot of new fun songs as well as a couple of old favorites!

The little eye catches are also quite charming. Although I will say that every now and then my browser will have trouble re-loading the site (after pausing it) and I get to witness the words weirdest mashup of genres as the current song clips in and out of a previous song. :P Overall, it’s been a fun time! I forgot how neat it was to find new songs this way!

Killashandra touched the cocooned crystal set briefly, reassuring herself that it really was free, it was hers, it was safe…

…and a discordant howl of wind reminded her of why she had hastened to pack it.

Her cutter was almost forgotten in the cargo bay, but she stumbled as she stood from the case with her new triad of blues. She hastened to get it clamped into its place; she vaguely remembered replacing it all too recently.

Another shriek of the incoming storm, and she threw herself into the pilot seat. In moments, she was racing Ballybran's fury to safety.

2013. You know what this means, right? Time to cancel the apocalypse!

It seems to also have been a real slow down in my viewing, but I was working nights and/or juggling supervision work without being a supervisor.

Fast & Furious 6 - Decent. At this point it really was about how ludicrous the stunts could be.

After Earth - Is it great? No. Did it hold my attention? YES. It's one of those that I watched a few times, will not rec it to just anyone, but it had SOMETHING there that grabs my attention.

Pacific Rim - Not even in the Top 10 movies of the year, and yet. The impact of seeing this (I bought it in a cheapie bin! I don't think there was ANY marketing in my area for it) cannot be measured. It was watching Godzilla on a Saturday morning, and following it up with Voltron. It was joy. It was tragedy. It was beautiful.

Mostly, I have stressed myself out and then gotten things more or less under control. It is a Process.

I have eight boxes packed for Saturday and two more in progress, which is basically my limit unless some stuff gets sold during set-up, which often happens. We'll see. I'm looking at shows for next year and I'll try for ~April, June/July, and maybe Autumn. There's also the Model Expo in... April but that'll be more for M than me. I have a lot more to dig through than I realized, and that's before any Accidental Advent discards.

holiday_wishes after Saturday, since I usually use it to help re-home unsold media.

Also starting to pester people for xmas lists. I probably won't get anything else ordered/mailed before next week, because I only have so much mental bandwidth, but it's definitely time. I also have the gift for my second Secret Santa to send. It's being done solely on discord so idk if I'll get tracking in advance or if a surprise will just appear.
